About the Northcote Community
Set at the gateway to Auckland's North Shore, Northcote residents have the best of both worlds, enjoying a leafy established suburb within easy reach of malls, beaches, motorway, and the CBD.
Northcote offers a wide range of housing from exclusive Pointside character villas to practical brick & tile units, and everything in between. Turnover of residences is lower here than in many parts of Auckland, a testament to Northcote's solid reputation as a place to settle down, bring up a family, and stay a while. In fact you'll often come across families who have been in the area for generations!
As an early Auckland settlement it enjoys a rich history, even boasting one of the oldest North Island pubs still in existence, the historic, 1880s, Northcote Point Tavern. Expanding rapidly after the Harbour Bridge opened in 1959, Northcote remains consistently popular as a stable centrally located suburb with established, family friendly, streets.
Many homes around the locality enjoy city and harbour views, and/or access to numerous reserves and bush walks. The area also offers a wide range of quality schools, mall and boutique shopping, cinemas, recreational facilities, parks, and a truly comprehensive choice of conventional and multi-cultural dining.
