About the Stanmore Bay Community

Stanmore Bay became a popular holiday destination after WWII and many of those early baches still remain. In recent years it has been an affordable location for permanent residents. With everything from simple little cottages to million dollar mansions on the clifftop, there is a home here for every budget.

It is a great suburb for the sports minded - rugby and soccer fields, the popular Leisure Centre, and easy access to the water for boaties. There are several pre-schools and kindergartens, a primary school and a college.

Eating

Stanmore Bay is incredibly well supplied with choices for diners. There are several top quality restaurants, cafes and a multitude of fast food outlets. From burgers to roasts, fish n chips to kebabs, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Italian, Japanese and more to choose from, there is something to suit every palate and budget.

Shopping

The main shopping facilities for the peninsula are located in Stanmore Bay, centred around The Plaza. Most immediate daily needs can be met by the facilities available - general shopping, medical, banking, home renovation, etc.

Transport

There is a regular bus service for people commuting into Auckland City and Orewa. In addition, there are many bus options available for the school children, morning and afternoon, covering both the Whangaparaoa Peninsula and access to North Shore schools. There also is a regular ferry service to the city from Gulf Harbour.
