About the Mission Bay Community

Enjoy European culture in the heart of Auckland's Eastern bays.
Mission Bay boasts an inviting long white swimming and boating beach, with a grassy area for families and visitors to enjoy a unique harborside experience as boats of all shape and size cruise by.

Mission Bay is served by over twenty five eateries, two upmarket pub restaurants and a multiscreen cinema. The side walk is usually full of people enjoying a casual drink, their favourite coffee, a snack or a full gourmet meal, as they enjoy people watching at its best.

Mission Bay is the ultimate eclectic mix of people and property. Houses range from an average of $400,000 to multi million homes, some occupied by the rich and famous.

Famous Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium, Orakei Marina and Kohimarama beach are all within a short drive. An area full of exitment as well as sedate living for those who wish it. As the older generation move out of the area they are replaced by professionals seeking European flavour only a short distance from the city.

Eating

Mission Bay boasts almost every type of food that locals or visitors could desire. From Thai, French, Italian, Croatian, Indian, Turkish, Japanese, Chinese, pizza, fish and chips, hamburgers or just a good cup of coffee and a cake. There are over 25 eateries or food outlets, sure to please every taste.
Three fine Bars serve drinks and food.

Eating in Mission Bay is a very pleasant experience particularly in the long summer evenings.

Shopping

Mission Bay is served by the large Eastridge complex, with a New World supermarket and a mix of other shops, creating a one-stop shopping experience.

St Heliers Village offers a real village atmosphere including a Library, local butcher, delicatessan, greengrocer and branches of the main banks. Within 20 mins drive is the central city (Queen Street), Sylvia Park Mall, and the upmarket areas of Newmarket, Remuera and Parnell. In the Glen Innes area many unique shops are opening for those hard to get items.

Transport

Buses run on a regular basis along the waterfront to and from the central city joining up all of the local areas. Orakei now has an upmarket rail station with ample parking that takes pasengers south or west.

A unique feature of the Waterfront is the cycle way to allow cyclists a safe way to travel. Walking is a very popular pastime for the locals due to the long flat walk the waterfront provides.
