About the St Heliers Community

St. Heliers is an established seaside locality with a vibrant and unique village centre. Located at the end of Tamaki Drive, St. Heliers is the furtherest of the Eastern Bays beaches and yet is only a 15 minute drive from downtown during off-peak hours. The suburb attracts a range of residents from young families to more senior people, all no doubt attracted by the more relaxed pace and close proximity to city beaches.

St. Heliers was established at the end of the 19th century and quickly became a popular seaside holiday destination for Aucklanders who arrived by ferry, from the city. The opening of Tamaki Drive in 1931 transformed the area into suburb within striking distance of the city. A permanent population grew quickly from this point however the area still retains much of its original seaside character and charm.

Eating

St, Heliers has a number of cafes and restaurants offering ethnic cuisine to contemporary New Zealand fare. More dining options are available at nearby Mission Bay, albeit at a more bustling and busy pace!

Shopping

Known as 'the Bay', St. Heliers village is well patronised by locals from the surrounding areas. The centre has an excellent range of shops from grocery stores, a butcher and fruit and vege shop to stationers, banks, and travel agents. Speciality stores complement these essential shops.

St. Heliers has a fantastic library housed in its original historic building. Other services include several doctors surgeries, a Medlab as well as legal, accounting and secretarial services.

Transport

St. Heliers is served by buses and taxis.

St Heliers  - Super Sized! Super Value! Super Special!

27A Walmsley Rd, St Heliers, Auckland City

Open Homes: Sat 04 Sep 01:00 pm - 01:30 pm
Sun 05 Sep 01:00 pm - 01:30 pm
$987,000
This super-special home with its understated European influence was originally built for a top Auckland Restaurateur - so creating areas that were perfect, yet practical, for entertaining family, friends or business associates was a top priority. The large living includes an open plan kitchen, dining and informal area that flows to an outdoor area. A separate lounge is ideal for more formal occasions and the downstairs bedroom with its own elegant bathroom doubles as a cloakroom/powder room or a guest suite. Upstairs are three more bedrooms all generously proportioned - and, of course, the master is all that you would expect with walk-in wardrobe plus en suite.
There´s room for a trampoline in the back yard - this area has loads of potential for development. This subtly elegant home sits high on Walmsley Road so enjoys a widespread vista. A Dry-build Report is available for your perusal and the vendor has priced below C.V. So come and have a look - you won´t be disappointed!
