They're upset and downright angry!
"It's outrageous really" say's Mr. Gnome. "We're being forced to leave, by our owners. They tell us they've bought a fabulous new home out of Auckland, and need to sell our current home, fast. I'm miffed and very skeptical, because they've gone ahead and bought without consulting us first."
"It's just plain rude. I mean, really, the cheek of it," says Mrs. Gnome.
You see, Mr. & Mrs. Gnome have called 1/20 Jenanne Place in Totaravale "Gnomesville" or "Home" to you and me, for just over 30 years.
They don't want to move. I know what they mean. This home, the grounds and the bird life, are special.
So I asked Mr. & Mrs. Gnome, what they have loved about living here ...
"Well, it's been absolutely brilliant", say's Mrs. Gnome. "It's elevated, warm, in a quiet cul-de-sac, and we have a peek of Rangitoto, which has been a godsend. The fairies, who visit us regularly on the mainland from Rangitoto, have line of sight, so this makes navigation to us, especially on windy nights, a lot easier. Goodness knows if we will ever see them again. We would miss them terribly."
Mr. Gnome adds, ... "We are gutted. I mean, look at the land here, and the space we have. Our Gnome and Fairy parties on this very site are considered legendary, but of course, our owners never knew because they always slept through them."
"I'll admit, the location has been truly marvelous for our owners" says Mr. Gnome. "Very central to Wairau Park, Sunnynook Shopping Centre and Glenfield Mall. Mostly everything you need is only moments away."
Mrs. Gnome says "on the odd occasion I've been inside the home, to get cleaned up, I've loved the layout. 3 double bedrooms, and the 2 new bathrooms are superior quality. Did you know I only get to shower outside, when it rains? Lovely open plan living upstairs and the downstairs area offers unique and exciting options."
"Oh blast," she says, "I don't want to go" as the tears roll down her cheeks ...
