Beach Haven

Beach Haven and neighbouring Birkdale are quiet residential suburbs just across the Harbour Bridge from Auckland City. The area has a smattering of traditional villas and original baches as well as a high proportion of homes built in the 60s and 70s. There are also an increasing number of modern townhouses and apartments and some fabulous cliff top properties with stunning views.

The Barfoot & Thompson office is conveniently situated on the sunny side of one of the two main shopping streets in Beach Haven. The small but busy shopping centre offers residents the local convenience of a bakery, pharmacy, postshop and three dairies plus a café that serves breakfast and lunch and a few take-away food outlets. There are supermarkets in the Birkenhead and Glenfield Malls, both approximately five minutes away.
 
The area is popular with families with four primary schools, an intermediate school and award winning Birkenhead College. Access to some of Auckland’s private schools and the universities is made easy by good public transport links.
 
Beach Haven, as the name suggests, has some lovely beaches and coastal walkways. As the area was originally quite rural there is still some great bush which offers many recreational opportunities including tramping and family picnics. Parks include Tui Park with access to a beach and Shepherds Park with sports grounds that are busy throughout the year with club sports including soccer, cricket, squash and tennis. There is also a popular community centre that hosts events and activities for locals and community groups.
