Blockhouse Bay

Blockhouse Bay is a family oriented village with a vibrant community atmosphere. The housing is predominantly 1960s and 1970s style built on large sections making it an ideal place to raise a family. In recent years there has been the addition of more modern style housing as some of the larger sections have been subdivided. The south west side of the Bay is particularly sought after for its beautiful views of the Manukau harbour.

Blockhouse Bay has an attractive village feel to it and the community avidly supports the local shops which offer all of the essentials as well as an appealing variety of cafes and eating places. If more serious shopping is called for, LynnMall and Lynfield shops are a short drive away.

The local schools are well regarded with many families in the area sending their children to the local Primary and Intermediate schools – Blockhouse Bay Intermediate is a particularly popular choice. Lynfield College, a co-ed Secondary school, is also well supported.

One of the great advantages of Blockhouse Bay is the lifestyle afforded by the parks, walkways and beaches located just a short stroll or drive from the village centre. These are definitely ‘hot’ spots in the summer time with many people from the community meeting friends and family for picnics and barbeques.

The Barfoot & Thompson office in Blockhouse Bay is easily found on a large corner site by the main roundabout as you enter the village shopping centre from Blockhouse Bay Road.
