Conditions of entry.

  • The competition is open to all primary school classrooms from year 1 - 8 in Auckland and Northland.
  • Classes that enter must come up with an idea for a storybook and develop it into a plot. The plot should be detailed on the prescribed template.
  • The winning class will have their entry used as the basis for the final book.
  • The author will work with the class to develop their concept into a story.
  • The concept for the storybook must be thought of and presented by the children in the class and the teacher of the class must verify that the concept and the presentation is the work of the children.
  • Teachers are able to facilitate the class as they would a normal class lesson but the work needs to be that of the children.
  • All entries must be sent back to Barfoot & Thompson by Friday 10th April, 2009. (Storybook Competition, Barfoot & Thompson, PO Box 4078, Shortland St, Auckland).
  • The winning class must be available during term two to workshop with an author and Keven Mealamu. The days of the workshop will be determined with the winning class and will not take more than a total of 2 full days spread over a period of one to two weeks.
  • The winning class must be available for publicity if required.
  • Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The completed books will belong to Barfoot & Thompson and be our exclusive property.
