Orewa

Orewa is a seaside township on the Hibiscus Coast, north of Auckland. Formerly populated by holiday makers attracted by the long sandy beach, many fell in love with the location and kept their promise to retire there. Now within easy commuting distance to Auckland the town has grown with families opting for a seaside lifestyle. The housing is varied and includes exclusive beachfront properties, a high-rise apartment building and expansive family homes enjoying views of the bay and Hauraki Gulf from the more recently developed elevated part of the town. Some low maintenance townhouses and the odd bach still remain.

Barfoot & Thompson’s Orewa branch is located on the main highway on the southern fringe of the commercial development, just across the road from the beach. Great for purchasers to take a break from house hunting and dip their toes in the surf.

There are several good primary schools in the area and some are expanding or combining in an effort to cater for the swiftly growing community of families.  Orewa College is the main secondary education provider and pupils living in rural locations have access to the free school bus. The immediate area also boasts four excellent private schools and colleges.

There are many opportunities for recreation including fantastic beaches for swimming, watersports, boating and fishing and parks for tramping, camping and picnics. There is a leisure centre nearby at Stanmore Bay with a swimming pool, gym and squash courts, two golf courses at Gulf Harbour and a third at Red Beach. If winter sport is your passion then you can ski all year round at New Zealand’s first indoor snow dome – Snowplanet.

Lifestyle is the main reason people are attracted to the area and the warm climate, wonderful beaches and excellent facilities have contributed to strong growth in the real estate market.
