2011 Rental Market Overview

Increase in average rent across Auckland

Average weekly rent increased by 8% with the biggest increases seen on the North Shore and in Central Auckland. Tenants seemed to be settling for properties with less bedrooms than in previous years as there was an overall increase in the rent of smaller properties. Rent increases were expected due to the change in taxation that meant landlords could no longer claim depreciation losses on rental properties.
