Barbara has been managing this portfolio since 1999. Her stand firm attitude helps in maintaining an effective relationship with landlords and tenants. She has come from a strong management, accounting back ground having worked in the financial sector and Housing NZ in Wellington. Barbara likes organisation and prefers to be pro active, informing people first hand. This effective communication gives Barbara a huge advantage liaising with landlords. Barbara was awarded REINZ inaugural Property Manager of the year 2004 and has been recognised several times as one of Barfoot & Thompson’s Outstanding Property Managers.

Barbara looks forward to getting out of Auckland to her beach house for a break and fishing in the Coromandel on the weekends. She often brings snapshots of lovely large snapper that she has caught, more recently a 24 lb & 18 lb Kingie.

Barbara works with her rental assistant Colleen Oldfield. This dynamic duo manages over 400 properties in the Panmure, Mt Wellington, Glen Innes areas.

I have had my property with the Panmure Branch of Barfoot & Thompson’s since the mid 80s. Barbara Dean has been there since 1999. I have never had any cause for complaint.
Barbara is clear, efficient, professional and timely. All my communications have been attended to within hours. Whether I have been in Nelson, NZ or Kassel, Germany Barbara has never failed to communicate.
On both of two occasions when there has been a problem there has been clarity and no sense of there “being someone to blame”. She simple gets on with and moves on. Metro water at one stage muddled the accounts and Barbara accepted my complaint, checked every detail, confirming my suspicion and adjusted the payments.
On another occasion when a tenant was having family problems and the rent fell behind, I preferred that the tenant be counseled as to the circumstances. Barbara supported my approach whilst still being firm with regard to the possibility of a tenancy tribunal hearing. The rent was paid and the tenant continued to live in the house for several years without missing a payment.
On a larger perspective Barbara treats all people with dignity and respect whilst maintaining discretion and wisdom to the benefit of both tenant and landlord.
