Grey Lynn is a popular community oriented suburb adjacent to the shopping, restaurant and nightlife of Ponsonby Road. Housing in Grey Lynn is predominantly older villas, with some traditional miner’s cottages, interspersed with the occasional bungalow. This is an area which is the subject of constant renovation with many homes being beautifully restored and modernised. Much of the area is heritage zoned which ensures the traditional character of the suburb is retained.

The Grey Lynn branch is prominently located in the Surrey Crescent shopping centre, beside the Post Office on the corner of Great North Road and Williamson Avenue.

The Grey Lynn community is focused around the shopping areas in Surrey Crescent and West Lynn which was recently revamped and is now a local hot spot with a number of stylish cafes, restaurants and bars. Surrey Crescent Shopping Centre is currently going through an upgrading phase. A number of well-known musicians and celebrities can often be spotted dining out at the various eateries located here.

Westmere is another popular suburb serviced by the Grey Lynn branch. The housing is predominately 1930's Bungalows and, like Grey Lynn, over the past few years there has been some superbly renovated homes. Westmere primary school has become very popular, with the school role growing over the past few years.

The area has a variety of good primary, an intermediate and secondary school options. Close proximity to the city is appealing for those wanting to send their children to private schools. Public transport is superb; a train station is located in nearby Kingsland and there is a reliable bus system with many routes running into the CBD.

Grey Lynn has undergone a resurgence in recent times and is an increasingly popular suburb with many cafes, bars and restaurants. The local parks, Western Springs and Grey Lynn Park, are great for relaxation and the proximity to the zoo is an attraction for families.
