Ling graduated from Boston University in the USA with a Bachelor degree in Business Finance and International Management. She then worked for a total of 14 years at the Chase Manhattan Bank and American Express Bank in Jakarta as a Treasury corporate trader.

Ling migrated to New Zealand and has been a permanent resident since 1999. She is proficient in three languages, Chinese Mandarin, Indonesian and English. Her language proficiency ensures that properties listed with her get exposure to a wider market segment.

Ling joined Barfoot & Thompson in 2002 because the company has a reputation for integrity and honesty. In her first year she was one of the top 10 achievers in the branch.
