Martin loves architecture and property- a passion cultivated by his searches for "a pearl ", in order that a customer may have a home that he or she loves.
He listens to his clients and forms an understanding, in conjunction with a skilful eye, about which buyers would see more value in a property, and has cultivated a unique method of strategic anaylsis and marketing to attract them - a process undertaken with the complete involvement of the clients.
His experience in architecture and development in Europe for 15 years have honed his skills in finding ,valuing, creating, strategising, marketing, and extracting value, selling properties at the best price per square metre - not just selling them for any price.
Martin has a flair for untangling the seemingly insurmountable problems associated with legal issues, including complex family scenarios, combined with the maturity and interpersonal skills to lead negotiations with both empathy and direction to achieve that premium.
His understanding of the significance of the internet was demonstrated as early as 1996 when he co-created a management consulting report on it, and joined the presentation at Board level in Zurich, to the Union Bank of Switzerland.
All buyers are registered on his proprietary database server, which automates filtering, emailing and texting for follow-up, and ultimately closing a sale to achieve a premium. This data, and customer tracking is sent by proprietary software to his ipad and iphone.
Martin is a family man with family values, and agrees with the statement : " I'd rather lose a listing with integrity, than win a listing with lies."
“I am backed by the strength of Barfoot & Thompson’s network , their family values , and branded presence, which help ensure the largest number of buyers for any home that I market, and I look forward to helping you to the best of my ability.”
Testimonials
I didn’t choose Martin because he impressed me with false promises of what he could do for me, or because he hounded me, or because he played on what he knew mattered to me – as all good sales people know how to do.
I liked him as a person. He stood out from the other agents I had met, so dramatically that I had a strong feeling Martin was the right person.
At an intuitive level I felt that Martin would look after me – and he did. I felt I was in safe and competent hands.
I have been forced to revise my formally negative view of real estate agents and my view of the profession in general.
Martin made me appreciate that finding homes for people (and selling homes to create space for a new challenges) is an art. It is far more than a financial transaction. If well orchestrated, it can educate, create human connection, bring joy, create friends or rekindle old ones, help people achieve their dreams – in short it can be a creative and enlightening adventure.
It is so refreshing to have one’s prejudices flattened and to find someone who has some real flair and passion for life.
I have many enduring memories of Martin. One such moment was when I spotted him in his very cool floral shirt, zipping along on his pale blue Vespa, giving me a wave, early on a fine Saturday morning, having great fun, letting the local neighbours know something was happening in their neighbourhood later that day. It left me with a smile on my face. I thought to myself “I like this man...he has style, an infectious joie de vie (and a great scooter)!”
Even my partner was finally won over and had to admit Martin did a brilliant job and that I had made a good choice of agent despite his early scepticism.
If I ever bump into Martin in the street, he’s the sort of person I would enjoy to have a coffee with, and I know I would come away from this time more enriched than before I ran into him...so I’m rather looking forward to this day!

"For what might appear a big challenge, Martin was pleased to contact and follow up my initial email very swiftly. The challenge was to list and sell a “do up” for a separated couple, one overseas and the other local.
With professionalism and creativity, Martin won the confidence of both of us and then proceeded to offer a marketing plan optimising the house to the prevailing market conditions. The “do up” became “partially renovated” and the target buyers were soon being attracted.
As it became evident that compliance issues were necessary to be completed, thereby enlarging the possible buyer pool , Martin again rose to the challenge and researched what could be done. He liaised with the council and contacted the architect and builders and plumbers to get the information and quotes, so we the vendors, could easily get the work done. This had to be instrumental in achieving a sale. The attention to details made it a breeze to get the jobs finished especially when being co-ordinated from overseas.
Martin, my sincere thanks for a seemingly impossible job well done. I would have no hesitation in recommending your enthusiasm, professionalism and proactive advice."

“Recently I had the pleasure of working with Martin when my house was for sale with Barfoot & Thompson, Titirangi branch.
I have highly recommended his services to a friend of mine who was looking for an agent, I found Martin to be highly motivated with the negotiations between myself, the purchasers and our lawyers. The sale of my property became conditional upon an easement being created between my property and my neighbours, so at one stage we were negotiating between three sets of lawyers, however Martin's skills were immensely valuable in keeping the energy and information circulating between the parties. Creating solutions instead of problems.
I wish to thank him for making the experience of selling my family home, a positive one."

"I would definately recommend Martin's services to others. I was impressed with the way Martin established rapport with me. His advice was invaluable when it came time to get our house ready for sale. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. I was particularly impressed by Martin anticipating what would be considered negative aspects of our property and contacting builders and other professionals to obtain information and quotes to advise prospective purchasers on how to improve those
aspects. Martin also sold us a property in Laingholm and his intricate knowledge of the area was greatly appreciated."

"We were delighted with Martin’s professionalism and knowledge of the market. He was most helpful in all aspects of the sale, and managed an advertising refund cheque when we were disappointed with a local paper ad. A very pleasant and successful association with a great result."
