Manurewa has traditionally featured predominantly 1960s style housing; either weatherboard or brick and tile homes on large family-friendly sections. In recent years a number of newer developments have been established, giving way to more modern style housing. The development of the southern motorway has transformed the area into one of Auckland’s fastest growing suburbs.
The Barfoot & Thompson office is prominently located in the central Manurewa Township, opposite the post office.
Locals are well catered for in terms of shopping with a combination of main street and mall for all the essentials. The Westfield Shopping Centre in Manukau City , just a few minutes away from the Manurewa Township, offers a good selection of shops, department stores and supermarkets.
The area is well served with 19 Primary, 3 Intermediates and 4 Secondary Schools. The new Alfriston College offers excellent amenities and is very well regarded by those living in the zone. The proximity to the motorway and a number of regular bus & rail services running into the CBD makes private schooling a viable option as well.
Local community attractions include the Nathan Homestead - a well known landmark built in 1925 which serves as an arts, community and function centre. The Botanic Gardens and Totara Park are also very popular for outdoor enjoyment and the new Manurewa Leisure Centre offers a range of indoor pools and full gym facilities, making it a favourite spot for families to spend time together at weekends.
