World Masters Games 2017

WMG campaign

In April 2017, the world's largest multi-sport event (by participant numbers) is coming to Auckland - and we're proud to be the Presenting Partner.

Over 25,000 competitors will compete in 28 sports across 45 venues throughout the greater Auckland area.

It's the largest event in New Zealand since the Rugby World Cup and the largest event the country will host in the next decade.

Hosting major events is important for Auckland and Aucklanders. They showcase our city to a worldwide audience and give us the opportunity to share an amazing 'Auckland experience' with visitors.

We are proud to play our part to encourage participation, an active lifestyle, competition and striving for success at all levels.

How we're getting involved

Since the World Masters Games sponsorship was announced, Barfoot & Thompson staff have been putting their hands up to compete or volunteer. Over 100 staff are competing in sports ranging from Lawn Bowls to the Tri Sprint. One of our Directors, Garth Barfoot, at 80 years of age, has entered four events.

Nearly the same number will be volunteering, either directly with the Games organisation, or for Barfoot & Thompson at one our many sponsorship events.
