We have a number of specialists responsible for the training and development of our people. We have both central training and development teams, branch specific training, region specific and external providers who conduct training. 

Regardless of which roles (Sales, Property management, Administration, Support Centre) and in which location, you will be supported. With 99 years of experience behind the learning, combined with modern learning methodologies and with market leading resources, our results are unparalleled.

All new people who join Barfoot & Thompson will be invited to an orientation session, it will provide everyone with a detailed overview of the company, introduce key people and services and formally welcome you!

Sales Training

The team is here to offer you the full life cycle of training, support and mentoring. This combined with the hands on and bespoke approach from our managers means that everyone has their own tailored approach to success. 

It doesn’t matter where you are joining us from, or which role you are joining us in, we are committed to providing you with market leading onboarding, we will support you through a variety of professional development workshops (such as REA Verified training) and access to a variety of best in industry international speakers. We also offer multiple leadership progression pathways. Depending on your experience level you will take a specific pathway into and once into Barfoot & Thompson. 

New to Real Estate?

The good news is our training is FREE and continuous, we are invested in you and committed to helping you succeed. 

We will provide you with the below;

  • Ongoing Continued Professional Development (CPD) as required by the Real Estate Authority (REA)
  • Systems training - Regular courses to upskill you in our business systems and new marketing strategies
  • Courses and workshops in presentation skills, networking, auction processes, digital marketing and more
  • Management and leadership programmes
  • Regular advanced skills workshops
  • Annual company-wide Summit with expert speakers
  • Mentoring from your sales or branch manager

If you are new to Real Estate you will be offered a place on our Front Runners course. It's a complete 12-month supportive programme that kicks off with a four-day intensive course run by experienced proven real estate experts. The training is followed by regular skills workshops, supportive mentoring and benchmark sessions to help you stay on track. The programme includes:

  • Presentation skills
  • Hands-on in situ training
  • Negotiation skills
  • Access to one of our sales performance coaches 

Accelerator Programme

Those new to the Industry are eligible to apply to our Accelerator Programme. If accepted you will receive intensive training that aims to fast track you and your career.

Experience within Real Estate?

All our in house training is FREE and continuous, we understand you know Real Estate and we are committed to work with you to support 

. We will provide you with the below;

  • Support from your sales or Branch Manager

Our Elevate training program is a one of a kind, market leading course that has been accredited by REINZ. It consists of 12 in-depth modules, face-to-face sessions and testing on processes and procedures.

Our cutting-edge custom training does the following:

  • Provides information both general and specific trouble-shooting advice
  • Teaches about preventative maintenance strategies
  • Gives guidelines for vetting prospective tenants
    Educates about healthy homes standards
  • Teaches best practices for dispute resolution and much more
