Top three suburbs in rental increases

We take a look back at our rental data over the past two years to see which Auckland suburbs are heating up.

Mt Albert, Parnell and Sandringham have come out top for rental increases in the past six months, based on data for three bedroom properties. Rental prices in all three areas have increased by more than 11%. The increases are perhaps unsurprising, given that all three are centrally located while still offering all the benefits of suburban living.

Parnell  $97 11.7%
Sandringham  $73 11.6%

Looking back over the last year, suburbs a little further out from the city had the highest rental increases, with Forrest Hill at an almost 20% increase.

"Forrest Hill's zoning for numerous quality schools, in particular the Westlake Colleges offering Cambridge qualifications at the time, would have been a desirable factor - especially for overseas students and their families," says Milford Property Manager Clair Archer
