Moving back to New Zealand

Finding a place to call home is an important part of getting settled when you move back to New Zealand. With that in mind, and as Kea's proud Global Property Partner, we’ve put together some practical advice and resources to help you prepare - whether you’re planning to rent or buy.

Helping you find a place to call home

Whether you're ready to move back to New Zealand, or just curious about your options, finding out about places to live will probably be near the top of your to-do list.

There's a few things for you to think about. Will you rent or buy? What suburb will you live in? What types of homes are available in your price range? What is the buying process?

As a company that specialises in Auckland property, Barfoot & Thompson are in a unique position to help you, and make your transition home as smooth as possible.

What suburb will you choose?

Lots of expats move back in with Mum and Dad, often with a partner and kids in tow. While this feels like a holiday for a few weeks, for some it's the push you need to start looking for your own place!

Auckland is a really big little city. Divided and surrounded by large bodies of water, Auckland is as diverse geographically as it is culturally. When considering moving home, it's important to narrow down where you’d like to live. So learning about different suburbs is a great place to start.

Luckily, choosing an area to live can be done, to a large extent, before you leave. Our handy Barfoot & Thompson app allows you to look at current listings (for sale and for rent) and get a better understanding of the ever changing property market.

You can also get up to speed with the average price and rent by suburb in our monthly suburb report.
