A taste of Lebanon fundraising evening

A little bit of Middle Eastern culture came to Remuera last week in the form of a Lebanese-themed fundraising evening. The event, run by Barfoot & Thompson’s Leila MacDonald, raised an amazing $24,425 for Starship, thanks to a very successful live auction.

The sellout crowd of over 120 people also enjoyed a cooking demonstration of three classic Lebanese dishes, belly dancing and music.

This is the third time Remuera department store Browns has generously donated the use of their venue for an event run by Leila MacDonald to raise money for Starship.

Among the many guests were Peter Thompson, Barfoot & Thompson’s Managing Director, and Dame Rosie Horton, Patron of the Starship Foundation.

All money raised from the event goes towards our 2014 Starship fundraising challenge.

Our 2014 fundraising efforts

So far this year we have raised $134,700, with an array of events including a quiz night, mystery movie, rock show, swimathon, sausage sizzles, cheese making, Bollywood dancing, and jumping off the Sky Tower.
