The role of Property Manager is an exciting one for me. Every day presents an opportunity to meet people from different cultures and different walks of life. I love that it is my job to find solutions that will enhance people’s lives.
I’ve worked for Barfoot & Thompson for a number of years now. Initially I was in residential sales and property management since 2016. I strongly believe that it is their family values that set the company apart from the competition. Their strength comes from their people who support each other every day which in turn, reflects on the service provided to their clients.
Ever since arriving in New Zealand way back in July 2000, I have lived mostly in the eastern and southern areas. Being a self-confessed horse lover, I love the idea of being able to live on a lifestyle block and still be only minutes away from schools, shops, supermarkets, beaches and parks.
I’m viewing Beachlands and Maraetai through different eyes now having always seen them as holiday destinations.
Prior to my property management roles, I trained as a Vet nurse and completed a Vet Nursing Certificate. I was an equestrian breeder and trainer, which is still a hobby today. I also held the position of Retail Support/National Transport Manager for Cotton On.
Life outside of work involves my beautiful daughter who is nearly three. My German Shepherd and five horses keep me busy the rest of the time. A friend of mine runs the Bay of Islands dog rescue and I help out with home placements and adoption checks.
I'm fluent in English and Russian. I have a very broad and clear understanding of what it takes to be a property manager and I have a wide range of skills and experiences that will benefit my clients, both landlords and tenants.

As landlords, my wife Bryony and I would like to formally recognise the tremendously successful experience and service we have received from our current Property Manager Anya Petrova, since taking over the role in November 2019. At the time of her appointment we owned one Auckland rental property and have since added a second. Our previous Portfolio Manager who moved, recommended Anya for the position leaving us anxious and uncomfortable. Both of us work full time and I work at sea, often off in another country where at times communication is difficult, heightening the need for a good trusting relationship with our Property Manager.
Bryony has primarily been responsible for the investment property administration requirements since purchasing our first rental in August 2015, at which time we had an up-an- down relationship with property managers who were changed a number of times as we did not feel they were the best fit for us. Since taking over the role of our Property Manager, Anya has demonstrated a very high level of professionalism, integrity and operated with great efficiency while enabling smooth interactions between tenants and us. Anya has a very approachable personality with great two-way communication.
Anya applies a very professional attitude in her management demonstrated in comprehensively documented regular property inspections. All facets of the property are covered with photographic detail together with any tenant concerns or requests for our approval and action all promptly addressed and followed-up. No problem is too difficult. Also, Anya has shown adaptability and willingness to facilitate landlord choices of contractors and equipment supplies, where requested.
Anya repeatedly demonstrates impressive proactive foresight in her management, demonstrated by the speed in which she quoted and actioned the healthy homes inspections on our rentals and actioned well in advance of the required deadline to ensure we would not be caught out by the last minute rush to comply with the regulations in July 2021.
Our latest experience, has been converting our North Shore home into a rental when we moved down the country. Anya organised and vetted all 120 applicants and presented the best fitting options with the selected tenants fitting in well to the neighbourhood and who remain happy to this day.
During Covid-19, Anya repeatedly liaised with our tenants. This professional and committed application eased the burden on our family significantly. For this I commend Anya for her efforts and pass on our deepest thanks.
Our interactions with Anya Petrova have been above and beyond expectations and we have full trust and confidence in her ability to maintain a safe, healthy and defect-free home for all our tenants.
