My family has been involved with real estate and land for about 75 years. My great-grandparents used to farm at East Tamaki - their farm was called 'Low Bank' - I believe that the original homestead is still there. As soon as I could read, my grandfather would have me read aloud the advertisements from the "Houses & Land For Sale' column in the New Zealand Herald and the stock market.
It was in the sixth form at the tender age of 17, that I achieved my first 'sale' to my chemistry teacher. I introduced him to our home and subsequently he bought it. It is a lovely old bungalow on the slopes of Mt Albert. The sale price was around $18,000 and I believe he still lives there today!
My formal introduction to selling real estate began in 1996. Armed with some experience and knowledge from several personal dealings in real estate followed by attaining my salesperson certificate, I duly commenced work as a salesperson.
Years on I enjoy a rapport with a wide range of clientele and the success that stems from the adage that I was brought up with - 'serve others' and 'always tell the truth'.
In between sales, I studied and gained my Diploma of Business Studies in Real Estate from Massey University - officially this provides me with Branch Manager status. It has also allowed me to become an Associate of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (AREINZ).
I derive immense satisfaction from a significant amount of repeat referral business and operate an extensive database to keep in contact with past, present and future clients.
You can safely say I'm 'old school'. I listen to what my clients say and will go out of my way to cater to their needs. As my history shows, I'm not in it for the short haul. My goal is to serve my clients as best as I know how.
My upbringing taught me to accept that there are so many valid 'life values', philosophies and view-points. Hence being flexible and adaptable comes naturally.
