About Karen Shaw

In my role as Property Management Administrator at Barfoot & Thompson Warkworth, I love the variety every day brings.

The team environment at Barfoot & Thompson makes it a great place to work. As a company, they have established a culture in which each employee feels a sense of belonging and empowerment. It truly feels like we are working together as a family.

There is a bit of theme in my working background. I have always worked for ‘not for profit’ organisations, generally in administrative roles, and they have always involved working with people. When I moved to Warkworth in July 2019, I volunteered at the Information Centre two days a week. This gave me the opportunity to get to know the community and the great people and services available in the area. For the last 10 years, I’ve worked at the Devonport Community House, again in an administrative role. Working with a diverse group of people, all with different needs, requires respect, tolerance, kindness and patience.

I was born in Devonport and have lived on the Shore all of my life. I love the village and community vibe.

On a personal level, I like to spend time with family and friends and I’m never happier than when I’m relaxing with a book, attending Pilates classes, working in my garden or walking along any of the beautiful beaches.
