About Sonia Tate

I’m excited to be working in a community where I’ve lived for nearly 25 years, so joining the team at Barfoot & Thompson Waiuku is perfect for me. The Waiuku and Franklin areas offer the perfect country lifestyle for families to live and play. There’s the local squash clubs, boating and fishing on your doorstep and the beautiful Awhitu Regional Park if you love camping or just like to enjoy getting away from it all.

Prior to real estate, I enjoyed a career in sales, marketing, event management and in public relations. Building strong relationships with my customers was the foundation of my success in each of these fields. My commitment to providing my clients with the best and most up-to-date guidance is testament to my friendly nature. I have great attention to detail and a clear communication style. I always operate with professionalism and integrity.

My real estate skills have been enhanced by my expertise in digital marketing. For the last six years whilst working in my own contract marketing business, I have undertaken a number of social media marketing roles in retail, horticulture and various charity arenas. Marketing my clients’ properties successfully is enhanced by my savvy technology skills, so important in real estate today.

I have a National Certificate in Business Management. This background has given me the expertise to educate my clients during the purchase and sale process. No matter the issues, I am able to find innovative solutions.

My family and I moved to Waiuku in the early nineties. My son and daughter attended the local schools. They both still living locally which gives my husband and I the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful grandchildren. I played competitive squash at the Franklin Squash Club for many years and I held positions of Secretary and Sponsorship Co-ordinator. I’m involved with the local Coastguard unit and look after their social media as a volunteer.

Cooking, dining and growing food are all interests that keep me busy. I especially enjoy attending cooking classes and creating new and exciting dishes at home for my family – with mixed success I admit!

A truly mixed bag of expertise and experiences sums up the springboard of the next chapter of my career in real estate with Barfoot & Thompson.

Whether you are a local or you would like to become one, please give me a call. I would love to be a part of your next chapter!

What my clients say

Sonia performed her role with diligence and an easy-going attitude that made the sale and purchase so much easier. All the paperwork was brought out to my place of work and nothing was too much bother.

When it came to settlement and moving in, the previous owners had left the house in need of a clean. Sonia assisted us for most of the day in helping out with this. Her partner Ross even brought along a Thai take-away and refreshments in the evening!

In a nutshell, Sonia went well above and beyond what was expected to help us out with the purchase and settlement. We are more than happy to provide this testimonial.

Yours sincerely

Arthur & Julie Clarke - Satisfied Customers

My husband Will and I would like to make a huge recommendation for Sonia's services for anyone looking at buying or selling a home. Sonia is incredibly knowledgeable in the Franklin area, her help and guidance was invaluable in getting us into our first home. There was never any question too big or small which Sonia was always happy to answer. We had such great support from Sonia always checking in on us and seeing how things were progressing. For a couple of first home buyers it was really nice to have someone who genuinely cared! We couldn’t thank her enough.

Kindest regards

Kirsty & Will Fanene
