After 24 years as a professional fire-fighter and senior fire officer, I came to Barfoot & Thompson ready to provide my own unique brand of service to the people of my local community. In my previous career, people would rely on me in times of critical need to make the right calls calmly and professionally, and with empathy for those involved. In many ways I see the role of a professional salesperson in the real estate industry as very similar - it's just a different type of service that I am providing.
I was first attracted to the Barfoot & Thompson organisation because of its well-known reputation for ethical and professional service. This was hugely important to me, having come from a long career as an officer/manager in an organisation that regularly surveys at No1 for trust and confidence by Kiwis. I stand by my core values of integrity, diligence, professionalism and empathy. These values are my strongest drivers. I believe that real estate is about people, and I love meeting and working with people to hear what is important to them.

I live in Hobsonville with my wife and two children, aged 9 and 13. Both children attend the local primary school. I have lived in various parts of West Auckland almost all of my life and readily identify with the lifestyle opportunities provided in this 'corner of our city'. I love sports and the outdoors, with particular interests in karate, boating, fishing, scuba diving and golf. I like nothing more than enjoying a BBQ with my family and friends.

Tony was referred to us as we considered selling our home in West Harbour. This was our first home we had owned, and right from the start Tony's approach, communication and information put us at ease. We were always advised of options, and opportunities and Tony never set unrealistic expectations. The delivery of information was detailed when relevant, so we never felt over whelmed by everything. In mid-2015 we decided the time was right to sell our large waterfront property in Te Atatu South, Waitakere.
After meeting with a number of local agents, we eventually took the house to auction with one of these, who had promised us a quick and easy sell. What transpired were offers well short of our anticipated price (and of the price range promoted by the agents) which left us frustrated and very disappointed.
Within weeks we were contacted by another local agency with promises of interested developers and buyers in the area. This experience also fell well short of our expectations, and the contract ended with no success.

had been looking to buy a house in the Auckland area for some time but, being from overseas, kept coming up against all sorts of difficulties regarding legalities of buying by negotiation and more especially by auction.
I first spoke to Tony Buckwell when he was helping me find a house of my requirements and he e-mailed me the details of many houses among which was a house which had possibilities. I returned to Auckland and looked at the house a few days after arriving. Even though the auction was to be held the following day he gave me the confidence to follow it through. He arranged for a solicitor (at 1600hrs on a Friday afternoon) to look over the LIM report and gave us phone numbers of building inspectors. He also arranged to meet me before the auction in order to ask the vendors for conditions to be approved and signed off (which were successful), but more importantly offered to do the bidding for me for which I will be eternally grateful. I was successful with the bidding and now own a lovely home in West Harbour.
