February 2017 rental report

Find out how the average rent for different-sized Auckland properties has changed over the past year.

  • Average rent for a 3 bedroom property and gross yield are marginally up on last month, at $531 and 2.96% respectively.
  • South Auckland has seen the greatest increase in average rent since last year rising 6.5% ($29), especially in two and three bedroom properties which rose over 7%. 
  • There has been a sharp rise in average rent for one and two bedroom properties in Franklin, with average rent going up on average over $26. This has been strongly influenced by a 25% rise in one and two bedroom properties managed by Barfoot & Thompson in this area. 
  • South Auckland continues to have a higher gross yield with most suburbs returning well over 3.5%.
