Find out how the average rent for different-sized Auckland properties has changed over the past year.

  • Rents in the greater Auckland region have increased 2.9% in the last 12 months
  • The highest rate of growth was in Central City as new/premium apartments dominate new property managements 
  • There was above average growth of 3.7% in South Auckland and 3.5% in Franklin/Manukua
  • Although the average rent for a three bed property in greater Auckland is $575 the average rent for 3 bed properties in Central Auckland, Central Suburbs, Eastern suburbs and North Shore all exceed $600 per week.

Source: Barfoot & Thompson analysis of its tenancies as at June 2019 and its sales over the last six months for three bedroom properties. Gross yield is calculated using the average sales price and average rental per week for three bedroom properties. Suburbs with less than four tenancies or four sales for three bedroom properties with Barfoot & Thompson are not included.
