Find out how the average rent for different-sized Auckland properties has changed over the past year.

  • Rents in greater Auckland have increased 3.2% in the last 12 months
  • Rents in South Auckland have increased at the greatest rate 4.4% or an average of $21 per week
  • Average rents in Auckland have increased $18 per week in 12 months
  • Yield is at its highest level since March 2015 as rents edge upwards and the average house price remains relatively stable (6 month rolling average has fluctuated between $920,000 and $890,000 in the past 2 years)

Source: Barfoot & Thompson analysis of its tenancies as at May 2019 and its sales over the last six months for three bedroom properties. Gross yield is calculated using the average sales price and average rental per week for three bedroom properties. Suburbs with less than four tenancies or four sales for three bedroom properties with Barfoot & Thompson are not included.
