Suburb Spotlight : Stonefields

Stonefields is East Auckland’s newest suburb. In 2009, 110 hectares of disused quarry in Mt Wellington was turned into a master-planned community, offering apartments, terraces and stand-alone housing. Stonefields is just 8km from the city centre and is flanked by the Auckland Netball Centre, the University of Auckland Tamaki campus, Sylvia Park Shopping Centre, and the newly revamped Lunn Avenue. The Stonefields Markets provide shops, cafes, restaurants, an alehouse, yoga centre, gym, and medical centre. Residents also enjoy easy access to many supermarkets, and it’s a short stroll to Stonefields Primary School. Development in the area is ongoing, with new apartments and shops in the works. Stonefields is the perfect destination for those looking to downsize and experience real community living.
