Gratitude goes both ways
When we asked you back in July to nominate your Property Manager for our annual Customer Service Awards, we expected a few thoughtful replies. What we got instead was more than 1,700 - a wave of appreciation that honestly floored us.
From heartfelt thank-yous to detailed stories of care, compassion and quick thinking, the feedback was both humbling and uplifting. It reminded us why we do what we do - that property management is, at its heart, about people.
One of you wrote:
"She’s not just our property manager — she’s part of our lives. Kind, professional, and always there when we need her.”
Another said:
“I never thought renting could feel this stress-free. My property manager makes me feel like I’m her only tenant.”
Hearing that kind of feedback meant the world. Not just because it made us proud - but because it echoed something we believe in: that great renting experiences are built on mutual respect, consistent service and clear communication.
Those things don’t happen by chance. They take time, care and a focus on ‘people’ - something we’ve always seen as core to the way we work. Our property managers always aim to listen, show empathy and make the effort to ensure tenants feel heard and supported. Reading through your nominations made it clear just how much that effort matters.
At this year’s Barfoot & Thompson Property Management Awards, your words took centre stage. Each regional winner was announced alongside their tenant’s nomination - and some of the stories really stayed with us.
One tenant shared how their manager helped a family with three autistic children secure a place to live, when others wouldn’t give them a chance. Another told us about a manager who showed up within the hour after a neighbour’s break-in - just to make sure they were safe.
There were hundreds more. Big moments, small moments - all making a difference.
So to everyone who took the time to share, thank you. Your feedback lifted us, inspired us and reminded us why high standards matter. Because in the end, that’s what it comes down to: doing our best, every day - and knowing it’s appreciated.
A few more snippets that made our day:
“She’s the reason I look forward to inspections - who says that?”
“He treats the property like it’s his own and checks in just to make sure we’re okay.”
“She found us a home when no one else would accept our support dog - I’ll never forget that.”
“He made renting feel human again.”
