Low Auckland house prices attract strong sales activity
In our latest housing market update, Peter Thompson reflects on a strong start to 2026 for Auckland property, with high sales activity driven by attractive price levels.
February 2026 housing market by the numbers:
785 homes sold in February – the highest for the month in five years
1,609 homes sold in Jan–Feb, up 16% on the same time last year
Median price: $904,000 | Average price: $1,013,976
31% of sales were under $750,000
February’s results show buyers are responding to today’s more accessible price points. Median prices were down 9.6% on January and average prices down 13.3% – among the lowest monthly figures seen since the 2022 peak.
