COVID-19 Policies

Over our 97 years in business we have met many challenges. COVID-19 continues to test us all, but we have learned from our experiences earlier in the year. During such times, the Barfoot and Thompson families have stood behind their people and communities, supporting and helping in every way possible. Our priority is the safety and well-being  of our people, clients, family, friends and communities.

We remain committed to providing our clients with the best service possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our team has a comprehensive COVID-19 Alert Level 2 Health and Safety Plan that will enable us to continue to operate effectively while keeping our clients and people safe. 

 

We know that many of our vendors and potential buyers may have questions.

Following the Government's announcement to move to Alert Level 2 (with special conditions removed) for Auckland and for the rest of the country to move to Level 1 as of 11.59pm Wednesday 23 September, our COVID-19 policies have been updated.

 

Alert Level 2 (Auckland)
  • Our branches are open.
  • Open homes and private viewings are permitted (upon agreement with vendors and tenants if property is tenanted) during Alert Level 2 with special conditions - find out more here.
  • Property appraisals, viewings, and contract signings can all be conducted in person or digitally.
  • Auctions can be held in-room and on-site with live streaming and bidding also available online - more information is available here.
  • Rental property inspections will be carried out where appropriate - more information is available in our FAQs.
  • Pre-settlement inspections can take place.

The following third party services can also be undertaken:

  • Property valuations
  • Professional photography and videography
  • Home staging
  • Moving services
     

Alert Level 1 (Rest of country, including Northland)

  • Our branches are open.
  • Property appraisals, viewings, and contract signings can all be conducted in person or digitally.
  • Open homes or private viewings by appointment are permitted upon agreement with our vendors (and tenants if property is tenanted).
  • Auctions can be held in-room and on-site with live streaming and bidding also available online - find out more here

  • Pre-settlement inspections can take place.

For your safety, services performed in person at all alert levels will observe the recommended Ministry of Health, WorkSafe and REINZ  guidelines related to social distancing, hygiene and contact tracing.
