Barfoot & Thompson named REINZ Large Agency of the Year for the 15th consecutive year

At the 2026 REINZ Awards for Excellence, Barfoot & Thompson was once again named Large Agency of the Year - remaining the only agency to have won the category since its inception in 2012.

Managing Director Peter Thompson says the accolade is one the company is incredibly proud of.

“Being recognised once is an achievement. Fifteen times in a row speaks to something bigger: the work our people put in every day - in our branches, at open homes, in auction rooms, managing properties and behind the scenes. No single person, team or branch can deliver a result like this - it takes everyone, right across the company. We all share this win.”

Securing Large Agency of the Year was the headline result in a five-win night for Barfoot & Thompson. The company also received the Community Service Award – Brand, recognising the extent of its community involvement through long-standing partnerships such as the Starship Foundation, the Blues and Mystics, the Auckland Marathon and the Young Authors Challenge.

“Community service has always been a central focus for us” says Peter. “We give our time, use our contacts, find practical ways to help and genuinely get stuck in. This award acknowledges the collective effort of our people and the many charities, community organisations, suppliers and partners we work with.”

Further REINZ success came at branch level, with Barfoot & Thompson Howick claiming three of the company’s five wins.

Branch Manager Steve Maserow was named Manager of the Year, the branch won Residential Office of the Year Large – Highest Sales Volume and Logan Boersma and his team took out Residential Sales Team of the Year – Highest Sales Volume.

The night also brought finalist recognition for Aaron Foss of Mission Bay in Individual Residential Salesperson of the Year, Selina Zheng of City in Individual Residential Salesperson of the Year – Volume and Barfoot & Thompson in Community Service Initiative of the Year, recognising the company's long-term partnership with the Starship Foundation.

Five wins. Three further finalists. Fifteen years at the top. It was a night that showed the strength of New Zealand’s largest privately owned real estate company - and 88 branches working as one.
