Barfoot & Thompson is proud to announce the appointment of Henry Barfoot as a Director, effective from 1st June 2025.

Henry brings with him 16 years of dedicated service across a variety of roles within the company, contributing his experience, leadership, and strong commitment to Barfoot & Thompson. His appointment marks another chapter in the Barfoot family’s longstanding legacy of guiding the business forward.

Henry will continue in his role as Manager of the Milford branch, a position he has held with distinction. This dual role echoes the contribution of his uncle, Chris Barfoot, who also managed the Remuera branch while serving as a Director. Henry’s leadership at Milford has been marked by a deep connection to his team and community - one that he looks forward to maintaining as he steps into this expanded position.

This appointment follows the stepping down of Henry’s sister, Kiri Barfoot, from the Board in June 2023. Like their father, Garth Barfoot, a former Director, both Kiri and Henry have helped carry forward the family’s legacy within the company.

The moment, and responsibility that comes with the appointment, is not lost on Henry as he looks to begin the role from June:

“It’s a humbling moment to be appointed as a Director of Barfoot & Thompson. I think about the people who have gone before me and what they have done to build the company up to where it is today, and there’s a big responsibility for me following in their footsteps.

We are an intergenerational family company, and we want a strong business to pass on to future generations. But it's not just continued business success - we also want to continue how we do business. Which is about how we treat our people, how we treat our clients, and how we contribute to the community."

Managing Director, Peter Thompson, acknowledged that this time is important for Henry, his family, and the wider-company:

"The appointment of a new Director to the company is an incredibly special time for both families, and our people within Barfoot & Thompson. We welcome Henry to the position and look forward to working alongside him more closely in the months and years to come."
