Last week my wife and I sold our family home where we have lived for the last 41 years. We consider ourselves very lucky to have found Philip Oldham of Barfoot and Thompson to advise and arrange our sale. Of course on this occasion you were dealing with my Mother (aged 96), and my 2 Brothers who both reside out of Auckland. Oh, and then there was me!!

Always your diplomacy and tact came to the fore, and it was such a relief to have trust in your honesty and maturity enabling me to get on with dealing with the day to day issues relating to the presentation for viewing of the property and ongoing relevant issues. The main obstacle of course was the absolute ridiculous timing with massive roadworks outside the door, Easter holidays, which was out of our control due to the timing of my Mother's contract with a retirement home.

My experience - and from many years in commercial property management, plus a family background in property, it is not only the training we have in the procedures and tactics used, but the ability to 'read' people - which cannot be taught. You came out trumps on that front (an expression NOT to be linked to anything currently political).

Thank you Philip for taking the pressure off and making this transaction as smooth as I could have wished for, and your quirky humour (which kept me going). You gained the confidence of all my family and they also expressed their appreciation of your standards and ultimate outstanding result.

Our search for a home in 2016 was a trying and long process. We considered different areas and home types as we tried to balance our budget, lifestyle, work proximity and the desire for a well-constructed home.

He took the time to learn what we wanted up front, made positive suggestions and was very patient and supportive of us as our requirements evolved over our search process. Philip kept checking in with us to make sure he understood what our requirements were right throughout, so he adapted as we did and ensured his advice was current and on point.

Since we bought we have had Philip around to our home for drinks and a bit of a BBQ, and it seems to be a common event for Philip and the people he has worked with. He takes a genuine interest and works hard to help people achieve their goals - and when they do, he is just as happy as they are.
