About Alex Whittle

With a lifelong passion for real estate, I bring a deep appreciation for the architecture, interior design, and the broad lifestyle opportunities it offers. Having personally built and renovated homes and worked extensively in the design industry, I understand how meaningful property can be whether it’s for families finding a place to call home or creatives and builders shaping our surroundings.

Before joining Barfoot & Thompson, I enjoyed a diverse and rewarding career. I began in banking, covering both retail and business sectors and later owned a well-known homeware business for 17 years. More recently, I managed a high-end interior design showroom catering to residential and commercial projects before relocating to Mangawhai and launching a new career in real estate.

Barfoot & Thompson has always stood out to me for their ethical approach and strong local presence. Their focused dedication to the Auckland and Northland regions, coupled with the warm and supportive team at the Mangawhai branch, made them an easy choice for me.

I hold a New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Residential Property Lending) in addition to my real estate qualifications, which allows me to provide well-rounded support to my clients.

Now proud to call Mangawhai home, I’ve been warmly welcomed into this vibrant and community-minded town. From its stunning beaches to its close-knit spirit, it’s a truly special place. I’m honoured to be part of the award-winning Mangawhai Lions Club, where we work on local initiatives that give back in meaningful and lasting ways.

I bring to my role a genuine ability to listen and communicate with empathy and clarity. My experience spans urban and rural living, giving me insight into the diverse needs of those relocating, upsizing, downsizing or buying a holiday home. I also have a keen eye for design and a strong understanding of what makes a house a home.

Outside of work, I’m a devoted mum to three adult children and a proud “Nona” to two beautiful grandchildren, with one more on the way. My constant companion is my dog Bindi, who joins me on beach walks and around town. I love cooking, gardening, knitting and anything creative, from painting to pottery.

My motto is simple: Be open to all things new in life. It’s a principle that has served me well, personally and professionally and one I bring to every client interaction.

Whether you're buying, selling, or just considering your options, I’d love the opportunity to help you navigate the exciting Mangawhai property market.
