20 years of experience counts: I’ll help you make informed decisions to reach your real estate goals.
The 20 years I’ve spent working with Barfoot & Thompson has been the most rewarding and satisfying time in my life. Through booms, recessions and a pandemic, I've enjoyed every moment and gained a wealth of knowledge. I love my career and I take it very seriously.
After all this time I still love working as a salesperson, relishing every deal as a fresh challenge. However, I also have a Branch Manager licence and get immense satisfaction from mentoring others, including my Associate Jason Xu and other colleagues. Above all, I am so grateful to work for Barfoot & Thompson, being a non-franchised, family-owned company with the best ethics and biggest market share.
Biggest regret: Not entering real estate earlier in my life.
Past careers: Mostly sales, in a variety of industries i.e. business management software, printers, copiers, building and construction. In my early 20’s, I worked for several years as a primary school teacher. On a part-time basis in my 30's, I presented literally hundreds of TV commercials (mostly for Ford NZ) and I had bit-speaking parts in Shortland Street, Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess. It was all fun, interesting work, but I get a much deeper satisfaction selling real estate, helping people make their greatest financial and emotional decisions.
On a personal note: In 1973, as a teenager, I moved to New Zealand from England and in the 1980’s, my wife Tiina, a Clinical Psychologist, emigrated here from Bali. We have two children - Aaria 25 and James 18.
Interests: Brewing beer, reading historical novels, Warbirds aviation, property investment in New Zealand and Bali, and I enjoy carpentry and DIY. Of note - I have undertaken many building projects over the years, including tripling the size of our Northcote Point heritage cottage, along with the soul-destroying frustrations of dealing with contractors and Auckland Council.
My bucket list: To become fluent in Indonesian, take up windsurfing again, learn to play rock and blues on the piano, and finish our latest development project.
My promise to you: If you list your property with me, I will aim for the best possible price and have a genuine interest and respect for your needs. I will help you make informed decisions by providing regular, real and unfiltered feedback from buyers. If buying through me, my straight-talking approach and property knowledge can guide you to a happy outcome.
Be open to my suggestions - after 20 years in the business I know what works!
