Peter Tuki brings a level of service to real estate that is unique and rare in New Zealand. His entire career has been built on exceeding expectations to leave a lasting impression among his clients.
Peter began his working career in the luxury cruise industry where he worked as a global brand concierge for LVMH. This conglomerate consists of some of the world’s most prestigious luxury designer brands with iconic houses such as Louis Vuitton, FENDI, Givenchy, Moet & Chandon, Tag Huere and HUBLOT, to name just a few. Not only is LMVH renowned for its exceptional products, the company nurtures talent with a culture of service that’s beyond compare.
As a shopping concierge for his own on-board TV channel, Peter entertained upwards of 1,000 guests at a time, promoting and marketing designer jewellery and watch brands. He became a trusted advisor as he built relationships, giving guests confidence and encouraging them to shop at ports throughout the Caribbean, Alaska, and the Mediterranean, in fact, all over the world. It was not uncommon for guests to spend up to $400,000 on a single piece of jewellery.
When he returned to New Zealand, he became the national Business Development Manager for Princess Cruise Lines, the largest cruise line in Australasia. Peter took the company from a solid 18% market share to close to 30% when he left, due to the COVID pandemic.
After a less than satisfactory experience when buying a dream home for his family in Kohimarama, Peter was shocked to discover that although property values compare with those in hotspots like New York and California, there was no commensurate standard of service in the industry.
So, he switched to real estate to utilise everything he’d learned from his international marketing experience. In doing so, he created his own particular brand, rewarding clients with a faultless, concierge-class service and communication that is second-to-none.
Through his ‘end to end service’ he develops long-lasting relationships by continuing the service long after the sale is completed. While others loudly proclaim, they ‘get the job done’, Peter achieves so much more than that.
He goes above and beyond the call of duty, delivering next level, 5-star service, taking care of every little detail. For a sales experience that rivals some of the true luxury global brands – contact Peter today.
Dear Kiri and Peter
I don’t normally do this type of thing but this is an exception. I wanted to extend my sincere thanks to you at Barfoot & Thompson, for the services of Peter Tuki.
We are a South African family (both my husband and I are investment bankers) who moved to Auckland in Jan 2020, and were legally permitted to purchase a home a year later. We were introduced to Peter by his sister, and we met him in November last year.
As you know, the NZ property market is a unique world of its own, and we were not only plunged into the chaos of a heated market at the end of last year, but also into foreign suburbs, strange house building techniques, complicated buying procedures and an army of required property service providers. As much as we desperately wanted our own home, we were overwhelmed by the complexity of the process.
In swooped Peter. A Buying Agent (we didn’t know such a service existed). He took us in the palm of hand and held us tight until he bid on our behalf (for the fifth time he tried to negotiate a deal for us) on Thursday and we bought our dream home in St Heliers. From the time we met, he said repeatedly “I will stick with you no matter what, until we find you a home”. He didn’t let us down.
I wanted to tell you how Peter blew us away.
• He visited us the very night we rang him at our home, to understand our need
• He brought us homemade cupcakes (made by his wife Lauren) as a Christmas gift
• He took us (personally chauffeured us) to more than 100 homes for viewings (at least three nights every week and at least four hours on the weekend)
• He didn’t flinch as we changed our preferred buying location from the North Shore to the Eastern Bays
• He didn’t flinch as we changed our budget (after my husband procured a permanent job after being in contract for six months) and our home criteria changed
• He responded to us from 6am until 11pm 7 days a week when we sent him links to places we liked, and to provide us with detailed responses, motivation, and updates
• He scoured every possible property site and researched every layout to find us a house and layout he was comfortable to recommend
• He visited every house ahead of time so he knew what to expect, and binned houses he felt wouldn’t work for our family
• He phoned every other salesperson who was selling a property we’d like - to find out the background
• He set up every appointment for us (many of them) with the building inspector and was on-site to let him in each time
• He reviewed the legal docs before they went to our solicitor so he understood the contents as well
• He repeatedly visited us on Sunday evenings to sign docs
• He took extra videos in the houses we loved, so we were reminded of what we were bidding for
• He brought over donuts and pastries to soothe our broken hearts when we lost a house on auction
• He sent us names of where we could buy good quality outdoor furniture to cater for Kiwi weather conditions
• And along the way he patiently taught us, and taught us, and taught us. Patiently, empathetically, respectfully. About NZ, about areas, about the property market, about resale values and about construction.
When Peter won our home for us on Thursday, I heard the crackle in his voice. He was as invested in our new home search as we were. And we felt it. I can’t explain to you what a comfort it was along this journey, so far away from our lives that we left behind in another country, to know that someone in New Zealand sincerely cared for our family’s future here. It has meant the world.
Thank you for having such a remarkable human being in your business. He has touched us deeply and it is a privilege to have met someone with such level-headedness, such honour, such commitment, and such an impeccable service ethic.
We will remember Peter and Barfoot & Thompson always.
With warm regardsKaren
We thought finding our first home would easily be a project for a few months.
Peter was very engaging right from the very first conversation. He helped us narrow down the size, type of structure and the convenient locations based on our affordability, in a very friendly manner.
As first-home buyers, we were scared to even look at property listed on auction, but with his expertise, Peter guided us through and assured a way to work around. That was the key..... in our house-hunt journey, which made a difference. We still can't believe that we found our first home in a week in such a competitive market
He is very professional and upfront about the pros and cons which made us trust him over other salespeople.
I strongly recommend Peter to anyone who needs help with buying or selling.
Peter you rock😀👏
Thank youRaji & Mukesh - Buyers Roberts Road, Te Atatu
“I didn’t realize I needed Peter….until after it happened. He made the whole process super easy. I had work constraints … not a problem…. I wasn’t sure what time I could make it to viewing… not a problem.. Peter was sooo accommodating. He asked me questions on my requirements that I hadn't even thought of!! And actually found me my lovely place first go (I think that’s unheard of)!
I really recommend Peter, super easy to work with….I’ll be a repeat customer in the future.”Rochelle Knight - Buyer Tahuhu Street, Mt Wellington
Selling our property was a breeze with Peter Tuki and Tania Brown. We were kept well informed throughout the process and ahead of time for any requirements, so felt no pressure during the transaction. On our visit to the first open home we noticed the degree of professionalism the prospective buyers were greeted with and how well the specification of our property was conveyed to them. We thoroughly recommend them.Steve & Elizabeth - Vendors Long Drive, St Heliers
Peter did a fantastic job helping us find and purchase our new home. He was very proactive and regularly in contact with advice and ideas and he was extremely generous with his time and support.
Peter is very thoughtful and exceptionally customer-focused with great energy and enthusiasm with a personal touch. We want to say a big thanks for all his help particularly in bidding for us successfully at auction.
We highly recommend Peter, a great guy and a pleasure to work with.Denise & Grant - Buyers Maskell Street, St Heliers
"Peter helped us find a great house after we had been searching for quite a while. Peter listened to the boxes we wanted to tick in our new home and took them into account and found us the perfect property from Barfoot & Thompson's inventory that we had not seen, despite numerous searches using other search platforms.
This was only the second house we have ever bought so we are still quite the property novices and Peter answered our questions no matter how trivial they seemed. Acting as our buyer’s salesperson, Peter took all the stress out of the buying process and did the leg work for us, while we were dealing with the sale of our own property.
Peter has a passion for real estate and it shows in his level of service. We now have a great home and would highly recommend getting Peter on board if you are looking at buying or selling your house."Rhys & Amber McKay, Gavinke Place
